Are you a victim of Domestic Violence? This question remains unanswered by many women as they still don’t know what Domestic Violence means. They are not aware of the kind of violence accepted as Domestic Violence because they believe that only physical abuse is Domestic Violence. It can’t be denied that Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is the most prevalent form of Domestic Violence but we are not aware of the other forms of this cruelty that has seeped deep into this male-dominant society and is causing menace in the lives of many women. What is it that people remember most about their lives? Probably marriage! It is empirically the most important part of our lives. I always believed that marriages are made in heaven.  It was perhaps the only part of my life for the past fourteen years. But, unfortunately, when this marriage part of my life came shattering down, I had nothing to cling to except my two kids. So here I was in the middle of nowhere, knowing not a thing about what to do with my life. I have never thought of my life without marriage. I have never thought of my life living outside the web that my marriage has created around me. Knowing that certain activities in the domain of our marriage are wrong morally and as a person would view it outwardly, it should not be accepted inwardly.   While intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is often confused with Domestic Violence(DV), they differ. According to YWCA Spokane , Domestic Violence is violence that takes place within a household and can be between any two people within that household . Domestic Violence (DV) can occur between a parent and child, siblings, or even roommates. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) can only occur between romantic partners who may or may not be living together in the same household. Intimate Partner Violence may also be referred to as Intimate Partner Domestic Violence (IPDV). IPV can be within formal unions like marriages or informal partnerships like dating relationships.
